FAME is a musical theater program that offers its students professional training in musical theater. Now in our 13th season we are proud to continue offering a unique program where our classes incorporate dance, drama and voice training. For young talent interested in the performing arts and improving their skills in dancing, acting and singing, FAME is the place to be! At the end of each session, students are given the opportunity to showcase their talent in a professional theater performing a full length Broadway musical.

FAME... WOW, what can I say about it. Honestly, its the best experience I’ve had in my whole life. The kindness and welcoming of the teachers and kids, the professional learning, and just, well, the whole experience of being a part of FAME has been awesome. I guess being a part of FAME for so long, truly shows how great of a program it is. Ive been at FAME since I was 7 and every session gets better as the years go on. Although, there’s more then just learning at FAME...It is the best place to be, and the best place I have been in my whole life! Interacting with friends, and laughing while blocking scenes gives you an understanding of how close FAME kids become to be. WE ARE LIKE FAMILY! At FAME, everyone accepts kids for their individuality. Everyones different, and has different talent, and in FAME you learn from everyone. That is what I believe helped me to become so successful. Learning not only from teachers, but peers around you. Well, it all started when I was 7 years old. Just a young, shy kid, who did not really understand much about the aspect of the arts. Over 5 years I have made many memories to share with friends and family, but even better memories to share with those who I have met throughout FAME over the years. After my first show, Guys and Dolls, I soon recognized that being a part of FAME has given me more independence, and courage then I have ever had to pursue what I have learned I love to do. Since day one at FAME, the program had truly transformed me into someone who I would not have been without being a part of this great learning experience. FAME takes not only your own independent talent, but also takes your true personality, and work ethic to the stage and makes you shine. I can honestly say that being on stage is one of the best things I have ever done. Hair, make-up, costumes, lights, camera, action. Come on, you cannot be reading this, and not get goosebumps up your spine! FAME not only is super fun, but puts on a thrilling performance every time. So, here I am. At the age of 13 and being a part of West Side Story, going on to be apart of some even more fantastic shows. Come, and visit FAME, and be prepared to make memories that will last a lifetime! Trust me you will not regret it!

Theresa

Theresa Di Meglio

Founder & Artistic Director

Theresa is thrilled to be in her eleventh year as director of FAME School of Performing Arts. She graduated from the Dance program at York University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Honours Dance degree. Theresa has trained extensively in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop. In addition to courses in dance, her studies included stagecraft, music, mime, and theatre. Theresa has worked in dance choreography and performance in Italy, and has performed with several companies in Toronto. Her work on set includes dance choreography for a Barbie commercial, dance choreography for a Much Music Video Dance Party commercial, dance choreography for YTV's station IDs, and most recently the Blue Smarties promotions for the Much Music Video Awards.. Theresa is First Aid and CPR certified.

Sarah

Sarah De Donato

Technical Director

Sarah joined the staff in 2009, but has been with FAME as a student since she was fifteen. Her FAME stage credits include Taylor McKessie in High School Musical, Bill Anderson in Mamma Mia and Ms. Sherman in Fame. Her other theatre credits include The Seagull, Arsenic and Old Lace, Into the Woods, Schoolhouse, and Rumors. Sarah also works behind the scenes of theatre and has been producer to three Upper Level Drama class shows at her high school, as well as working on set design, promotions, sound and lighting. Sarah also mixes the soundtrack for the FAME shows as well as the program and ticket designs. She is currently attending Sheridan for Broadcast Journalism.

Leah

Leah McCaffrey

Leah has been involved in dance for over 25 years. She was trained in jazz, tap and ballet and competed throughout Canada and the United States winning numerous awards. Leah has performed in various industrial shows such as Polaris Canada, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Ontario Home Builders Association. Though she left competitive dance to further her education she still stayed involved through recreational teaching. Leah completed her Honours degree in Kinesiology and Bachelors of Education and has been an elementary teacher for eight years. Leah is very excited to be back at fame for another exciting season!

Lucy

Lucy Sansone

Lucy first stepped onto the stage when she was 3 years old and immediately fell in love with performing. She began dancing at the competitive level at the age of 12. Although she left dance to pursue her academic endeavors at the University of Western Ontario Lucy has never forgotten her true love: the theater. Lucy began with FAME in its second year. She performed in the variety show and The Wizard of Oz. She then beacme a teaching assistant and dedicated her time to the performances of Moulin Rouge (2007), Guys and Dolls (2006), Grease (2005), Cinderella (2004), The Lion King (2003), and Annie (2001). Lucy has also performed in productions of Fiddler on the Roof (2006), Romeo and Juliet (2005), and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (2004).Lucy is excited to return to Fame for the production of Wicked and cannot wait to bring the magic of Oz back to the stage!

Josef Scofano

Josef is a recent graduate of the Cardinal Carter Fine Arts Dance Department. In his formative years Josef trained as competitive dancer in Tap, Jazz, Acro and Hip Hip. Josef is thrilled to be on board with the FAME team and share his passion for the fine arts choreographing for FAME's students.

FAME's Enchanted Christmas was my fifth show and my outlook on FAME hasn't changed except to say that it's the best thing I could possibly be doing in my life! Everyone there treats you like a professional and they welcome you with open arms. If you want to get into musical theatre, FAME by far is the best place to be. I used to be a shy person. When my dad took me in to register I remember my dad saying "She's kind of shy." Then Theresa said to me: "Oh trust me, after this she won't be shy anymore." She was so right! I don't have a fear of going on stage like I used to or being too shy to talk to people! I've also grown as a performer! I watch videos of my past shows and I notice how, inexperienced I was my first show, and how amazing I am now! (well not to brag :D ) So overall FAME is the place to be. You look forward to the Saturdays there are classes! So when you join, be ready to be committed and to have fun!!

Every one at FAME is amazing! FAME Performing Arts is one of the best things that has ever happened to me! FAME has taught me to be myself and open up my heart to the world! FAME is my second home, FAME is my life, FAME is ME! I am a part of FAME and every one that has been in a production before is a part of FAME! FAME is my everything it makes me me! I love FAME with my all of my heart and I hope you end up signing up and having amazing experiences just like i did!

I have been doing FAME for two shows, but in that time it has been the best experience of my life. It has introduced me to many aspects of performance in which I now have the desire to excel in. The teachers are amazing! They have made me feel as if I fit in so well. I made friends within the first two classes and the people there are amazing. The teachers help us so much and they have transformed me from a regular performer, into one who performs from the heart. I have become a better actress, dancer, and singer. FAME is no doubt, the best thing that has happened to me as it will be for anyone who wishes to join. The teachers are not like any other teachers, there like friends. All of them have become one of my best friends. The students who join are talented, smart, funny, and nice to be around. They made me feel so welcome and that is how I will treat anyone who joins. It's hard to explain how wonderful FAME has been for me, but everything I am saying is coming from the heart. Every week, I wait for Saturday to come, because I know itll be another fun day. I hope you decide to sign up for FAME, and have as great of an experience as I did!

Ive been doing FAME for 3 shows and it is the best time I have ever had. It showed me responsibility and what a professional job in acting would feel like. The teachers are the best and they treat you like family. The shows are amazing and I have improved not only as an actor but as a person as well. I have grown from being in FAME and every Saturday I get really excited because FAME is so wonderful and I love it so much! The shows are amazing, the people are amazing and FAME is amazing. Overall, FAME has made me a better performer and I would just be lost without it. If you need an extracurricular thing to do on the side, FAME is the BEST place to sign up! You feel welcomed by all of the people it feels like home :)
